In April this year, manganese ore shipments from Australia's Port Hedland totaled 104,698 metric tons, down 16.9 percent month-on-month and up 39.6 percent year-on-year, according to monthly data released by the Port Hedland Port Authority.
Meanwhile, this China accounted for 85.7 percent of total manganese ore shipments in the month, with the remainder going to Indonesia.
Port Hedland operates mines owned by BHP Billiton, Fortescue Metals Group and Atlas Manganese in the manganese ore-rich Pilbara region of Western Australia.
