According to a statement released by Danieli Technologies, the Indian state-owned Steel Authority of India limited (SAIL) Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has achieved new operational records with a new 4.3 meter wide sheet mill supplied by Italy's Danieli Technologies.
The sheet mill, designed to produce 920,000 tons of sheet products per year, recently achieved an annual production capacity of 993,000 tons. which exceeds its rated capacity and marks the second year in a row that the plant has achieved record production. During the same production run, the plant also recorded production of more than 5,100 tons of rolled sheets in a single day, a slab rolling record of more than 380 slabs per day and a record throughput per shift of more than 1,800 tons.
Danielli said these results highlight the reliability of the plant's process control systems, automation platforms and equipment.
The new sheet mill is designed for production a wide range of high-quality sheet products, including API pipeline steels, shipbuilding plates and specialty grades used in advanced engineering applications, including defense.
