According to BlueScope, the $415 million project will add 240,000 tons per year of additional ZINCALUME® steel production capacity. The company stated that the new line will increase metal coating capabilities and support the growth of premium products, including TRUECORE® steel and Colorbond® steel. The new MCL7 line is located at the BlueScope Service Center in Western Sydney. Commissioning is currently underway, while operations are expected to be activated during 2026.
BlueScope said that the project is one of several major investments that are currently moving forward in its operations. The company stated that these projects are aimed at strengthening local supplies and improving the long-term availability of premium steel products to customers in Australia.
