Yemen remains Turkey's main rebar export market, despite lower tonnage

In April of this year, the volume of rebar exports from Turkey increased by 3.5 percent month-on-month and increased by 52.9 percent year-on-year to 442,359 metric tons, according to data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these exports amounted to $245.54 million, an increase of 3.2% month-on-month and 49.8% year-on-year.

In the period from January to April, rebar exports from Turkey totaled 1,499,947 tons, an increase of 11.2 percent, while the value of these exports increased by 10.5 percent to $832.94 million, year-on-year.

When comparing the top 10 countries for the same period last year with the top 10 this year, it is noted that the list has changed significantly. Although Yemen retained its leading position, export tonnage to the country decreased by 9.7 percent year-on-year to 272,791 tons. Romania, Albania, Syria, the TRNC and the United Kingdom were in the top ten in both periods, while Palestine, Peru, Georgia and Egypt entered this year's list with strong growth.
