Russian steelmaker Severstal has announced the decommissioning of the 150 rolling mill at the Cherepovets Iron and Steel Works (CherMK), one of the company's key assets, after replacing the unit's capacity with the newly commissioned 170 rolling mill.
Commissioned in 1966, the 150 rolling mill has produced more than 38 million tons over nearly 60 years of production. wire rod. In 2025, the unit produced 397 thousand tons of rolled products, while Severstal maintained the overall output of rolled products by redistributing the flow of orders between other divisions after the shutdown.

Severstal also stated that 109 employees were transferred to the new mill 150, previously servicing mill 150, rolling mill 170 and other divisions of CherMK, and at mill 170 hot commissioning of the second Stelmar line, Garrett line equipment and two straightening and cutting lines are currently underway.
