The company reported a net profit of 424 million euros for the year, compared with a net profit of 178.6 million euros in the previous fiscal year. The company's revenue in this fiscal year amounted to 15.1 billion euros, which is 4.3 percent less than last year, and its EBITDA amounted to 1.5 billion euros, an increase of 15.4 percent year-on-year.
According to the statement, the company's results were supported by operational sustainability, a diversified business model, and sustained demand from strategic sectors, even as broader manufacturing activity remained subdued. Voestalpine said its portfolio of high-cost products helped offset pressure from weaker conditions in more cyclical segments.
The company's steel division benefited from relatively stable supplies to strategic customer segments, although the European steel markets continued to face challenges due to weak construction activity, import pressures, and sluggish manufacturing demand. The company also highlighted ongoing concerns about high energy costs and distortions in global trade affecting the European steel industry.
Decarbonization projects continue
Voestalpine has confirmed its commitment to its long-term decarbonization strategy through the implementation of the greentec Steel program.
The company is implementing plans to commission electric arc furnaces at its facilities in Linz and Donawitz, which will be a key step in reducing carbon emissions from steel production. These investments are expected to significantly reduce the group's carbon emissions while increasing the share of scrap steel production in its production network.
Looking ahead to the fiscal year 2026-27, voestalpine expects profits to grow in this fiscal year amid new EU safeguards on steel imports. The company forecasts EBITDA for this period in the range of 1.6 to 1.85 billion euros.
