SMS Group's German plant announced that the first coil has been successfully produced by China's Angang Guangzhou Automotive Steel Co., Ltd.'s new hot-dip galvanizing line No. 2, 40 days ahead of the official schedule.
This milestone marks the delivery of the second continuous galvanizing line supplied by SMS Group at Angang Guangzhou Automotive Steel's plant in Guangzhou. As previously reported by SteelOrbis , galvanizing line No. 2 was installed next to the existing galvanizing line No. 1, which was also supplied by SMS Group in 2013.
The new line has an annual production capacity of 400 000 tons and is intended for the production of open grades of automotive steel that require high surface quality. SMS Group supplied the entire project, including mechanical equipment, furnace and process equipment, electrical systems and automation systems, and provided technical support during installation and commissioning.
According to SMS Group, with the launch of No. 2 galvanizing line, Angang Guangzhou will be able to meet the demand for open grade automobiles and supply steel sheets with high surface consistency and quality. The German equipment manufacturer said the early launch reflects the close collaboration between the two companies and demonstrates its ability to deliver complex modular installations with digital integration and lifecycle support.
