June 5 Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. released its 2025 Sustainability Report at the World Environment Day theme event entitled "Smart Green Integration, Carbon for the Future".
According to the report, in 2025, Baosteel's carbon emission intensity dropped to 1.96 tonnes of CO₂ per tonne of raw steel, eight percent less than in 2020 and in line with the milestone target, set as part of its 14th five-year carbon emissions reduction program. In 2025, the company invested 3.2 billion yuan ($0.47 billion) in energy conservation and low-carbon initiatives. Through a comprehensive set of measures including technological upgrading, process optimization and green power substitution, Baosteel has achieved annual carbon emission reductions exceeding 2.0 million tons in 2025.
