Steel imports to Vietnam in May 2026 decreased by 9.1 percent compared to April

According to data released by the General Administration of Customs of Vietnam, in May of this year, steel imports to Vietnam amounted to 1.29 million tons, which is 9.1 percent less than in April, and scrap imports amounted to 451,799 tons, a decrease of 29.5 percent compared to the same month.

In the first five months of the year, Vietnam's steel imports decreased by 0.8 percent year on year to 6.34 million mt, while its scrap import shipments amounted to 2.58 million mt in the given period, up by 1.9 percent year on year.
