The Liberty Galati auction attracts the interest of the Persian Gulf countries against the background of a strategic advance into the EU market.

Аукцион Liberty Galati привлекает интерес стран Персидского залива на фоне стратегического продвижения на рынок ЕС

As the auction of the Romanian steel company Liberty Galati, which will take place on June 19, approaches, the market's attention is increasingly shifting from the sale process itself to the identification of potential investors. The auction, which involves Liberty Galati and Liberty Tubular Products Galati with a total starting value of about 463 million euros, is being held after a previous attempt failed to attract bids. Among the groups that are reportedly evaluating this opportunity are investors from the GCC region, whose interest has attracted particular attention in the European steel sector.

GCC's reported interest is seen as significant, especially given that steel assets in the European Union have gained additional strategic value in recent years. The ability to manage production facilities in the EU is becoming increasingly attractive against the background of evolving trade regulations, compliance requirements, and broader supply chain considerations. As a result, assets based in the EU are attracting increasing attention from international investors seeking to gain a foothold in the European market.

At the same time, Liberty Galati is still undergoing restructuring and continues to face financial and operational challenges. Confidence in the manufacturer's recovery remains fragile, while uncertainty about its long-term future remains despite ongoing efforts to stabilize the business.

Meanwhile, a legal dispute with the Czech company Liberty Ostrava has added another layer of uncertainty ahead of the auction. According to Romanian media reports, restrictions have been registered with respect to some Liberty Galati assets as part of a lawsuit filed by the manager of Liberty Ostrava in an insolvency case. However, it is currently expected that these measures will not affect the auction on June 19, which is still scheduled to be held as planned.
