According to data released by the Japan Ship Exporters Association (JSEA), Japanese export orders for new ships in May this year decreased by 0.4 percent in tonnage compared to the previous month, falling to 15 ships, including 2 general cargo ships and 13 bulk carriers, compared with 16 ships registered in April, with a total tonnage of 661,900. In the first five months of this year, Japanese shipbuilders received new export orders for 75 ships with a total displacement of 3.59 million gross tons, down two percent from last year.
On the other hand, in May, Japan exported 17 ships with a total displacement of 614,143 gross tons, compared with 17 ships with a total displacement of 614,143 gross tons. 792,125 gross tons recorded in April.
Meanwhile, between January and May Japan exported 94 vessels this year with a total displacement of 4.15 million gross tons, an increase of 18.6 percent year on year.
