Indian BCCL transfers coal washing operations to JSW Steel as asset monetization

Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), an operating wholly owned subsidiary of state-owned Coal India Limited, has transferred its Dugdha flushing plant to Indian steel company JSW Steel Limited as part of the miner's asset monetization strategy, the company said in a statement on Friday, June 19.

The transfer of the Dugdha flushing plant to JSW Steel is part of CIL's strategy to improve the operational efficiency of assets and efficient use of resources through the involvement of private sector companies, the statement said.

The capacity of the Dugdha washing plant is 2 million tons per year for the supply of washed coal to domestic steel mills.

The monetization of the flushing plants is expected to increase coal processing capacity, improve the use of domestic coking coal, and increase the availability of higher volumes of flushed coal to steel producers, the statement added.
