The largest Ukrainian metallurgical plant of PJSC Arselormital Kryvyi Rih reported on the end of the overhaul of converter No. 6 of the converter workshop of the enterprise. The repair lasted 70 days and was completely completed in March 2013.
The updated converter was connected to an automated technological process control system, which controls all the parameters of the steel production process and unites four more enterprises.
For major repairs, the company Lakshmi Mittal spent about 42 million hryvnias and expects to improve the quality of smelted steel, as well as reduce the environmental load.
During the repair work were metal structures were manufactured and the installation of the slag cut -off machine was made. This equipment allows you to automatically cut off the slag when draining the melting, which guarantees an improvement in the quality of the manufactured steel, said Alexander Zozul, director of the Arselormital Steel -Salm Department of Arselormittal Krivoy.
“Increasing the resistance of the converter liner allows you to reduce the costs of refractory and the cost of converter steel, and also ensures longer operation of converters,” the press service noted.
