Imports of steel bars to Georgia from Turkey will increase in January-May 2026

In January-May of this year, Georgia's total foreign trade turnover with Turkey, which is the country's largest trading partner, amounted to $1.38 billion, including imports of $1.16 billion, an increase of 7.2 percent, and exports of $225.49 million, an increase of 65.6 percent year-on-year, according to preliminary data National Statistical Office of Georgia (Gestat)

. In the first five months, imports of bars made of iron or non-alloy steel from Turkey to Georgia amounted to 86,320 tons, compared with 52,974 tons for the corresponding period last year. Meanwhile, the value of these imports amounted to $51.31 million, an increase from $31.33 million in the period from January to May 2025.
