In the period from January to May of this year, exports of iron and steel products from Japan amounted to 11.65 million tons, which is 8.6 percent more than in the same period of the previous year.
As for the main export markets of Japan's ferrous metallurgy products, in the first five months of this year, the country's iron and steel exports to South Korea totaled 1.69 million metric tons, up 4.1 percent, while exports to Thailand decreased by 2.6 percent to 1.68 million metric tons. Exports to China totaled 855,930 tons, down 11.2 percent, exports to Taiwan totaled 562,720 tons, down 37.5 percent, and exports to the United States totaled 552,644 tons, up 25.1 percent from the same period last year
