According to Secex, the foreign trade secretariat of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, slab exports rose 64 percent in June thanks to increased shipments to the United States and Europe, as well as increased sales to Mexico, which was not a destination in May.
Slab exports in June totaled 642,200 metric tons (mt), up from 390,500 shipped in May, according to Secex. tons.
Ternium supplied 299,100 tons to the United States at a price of $645/ton. ArcelorMittal Tubarão exported 75,200 tons to the US at $638 per ton, 61,700 tons to Germany at $548 per ton and 39,200 tons to Poland at $561 per ton. ArcelorMittal Pecem shipped 69,800 tons to Mexico at $536 per ton, 40,600 tons at $483 per ton to Poland, 39,100 tons to Spain at $561 per ton and 17,500 tons to the US at $620 per ton, all FOB.
On the import side, Usiminas imported 49,100 tonnes of slabs from Vietnam in June at $482/t, also FOB. In May, no imports of slabs were recorded in Brazilian ports
