Kyrgyzstan extended the ban on the export of ferrous scrap for another six months

According to local media reports, the Kyrgyz government has extended a temporary ban on the export of ferrous scrap and waste, as well as scrap ingots for smelting ferrous metals, for another six months.

The resolution will enter into force 10 days after its official publication, while the export restriction itself will take effect three days after the resolution enters into force and will be in effect for six months.

At the same time, the government will repeal Resolution No. 117 of February 18, 2026, which introduced the previous temporary restriction on the export of ferrous scrap and ingots for remelting. Accordingly, the new decision actually extends the existing restriction for another six months.

The government is committed to ensuring the supply of scrap for domestic переработчиков

The restriction is aimed at maintaining the availability of ferrous scrap for the domestic metalworking industry in Kyrgyzstan. There are five large enterprises with their own foundries in the country, namely Metallken, Asia Steel, MPZ Frunze, Lahore Steel Mills and Vulkan Plus, with a combined capacity of about 490,000 tons per year.
