India's industrial output, as measured by the Industrial Production Index (IIP), grew by 6.7 percent in July 2026, compared with 8.8 percent in June 2026, data released by the Ministry of Program Implementation and Statistics showed on Tuesday, September 1.
The volume of industrial production in the country increased by 4 percent in July, according to the IIP 2025.
This growth was mainly driven by strong performance in the manufacturing industry. and the electric power sector, despite the decline in the mining sector.
The manufacturing sector showed growth of 7.3 percent, while the electricity and gas supply sector saw significant growth of 8.7 percent year-on-year, the data showed.
The mining sector decreased by 0.9 percent in July 2026, compared with an increase of 10.7 percent in July 2025.
The production of goods for infrastructure and construction increased by 6.9 percent, while consumer durable goods showed significant growth of 10.5%. However, in July 2026, consumer durables decreased by 1%.
