Tenaris has started producing its TN 95EY steel grade at its industrial facility in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. The move expands the range of locally manufactured pipe products available to Canadian oil and gas companies.
The grade is designed for demanding operating conditions, including high pressure and temperature as well as sour service environments. It is intended for energy operators in western Canada, including those working in the Montney and Duvernay formations.
To launch production, Tenaris adjusted its manufacturing processes, testing and traceability procedures to ensure the steel meets required specifications. The work involved teams from production, metallurgy, the laboratory and technical departments.
The Sault Ste. Marie facility produces both seamless and welded steel pipe. Tenaris is also investing in its Canadian operations to broaden its product range and improve pipe production, heat treatment, testing and finishing.
Tenaris did not disclose the capacity allocated to TN 95EY or the volume of orders received.
