Japan’s Cabinet has approved definitive antidumping duties on nickel-containing cold-rolled stainless steel from China and Taiwan. The measures will take effect on October 31, 2026, and remain in force until October 30, 2031, the Ministry of Finance said.
The duties range from 27.7% to 42.1% for Chinese products and from 3.6% to 20.1% for Taiwanese products. The rates are unchanged from the provisional duties imposed on July 9, 2026. The measures cover steel containing at least 10.5% chromium and more than 0.6% nickel by weight.
The Japan Iron and Steel Federation, the Special Steel Association of Japan and the Japan Stainless Steel Association welcomed the decision. They said the investigation was conducted independently and in line with World Trade Organization rules. The associations also said they would continue monitoring unfair trade practices and consult the government on further trade remedies, while helping ensure timely supplies of the affected steel to domestic users.
