Modernization of the zincing line at the Tata Steel metallurgical plant in South Wales was carried out to meet the increased requirements of European customers for the quality of steel coating for the automotive industry. This was told by the commercial director of Tata Steel Adam Henrik.
An advanced camp will allow to produce roller steel combining higher strength while maintaining the required plasticity required for further processing. The combination of these characteristics, in turn, will make it possible for automakers to create lightweight and economical machines.
An increase in the volume of the furnaces on the heat treatment line where the desired mechanical properties are given, it made it possible to increase production capacity by about 25 percent to 500 thousand tons of high -quality auto strokes per year.
The addition of secondary processing of rolls on the calibration camp allowed to give additional plasticity of high -strength steel, while maintaining the possibility of production of two -phase steel.
3 million 600 thousand pounds of investment sterling were allocated for this project. "Investments carried out in the Metallurgy of South Wales are intended to increase the stability and competitiveness of the company in very difficult times," said John Ferrimiman, Director General of the Metallurgical Plant in the Port-Tolbot.
