According to the World Steel Association (WorldSteel) World Metallurgical Association, steel consumption in the European Union in 2014 will grow by 2.1 percent, to 138 million tons. The transition to growth will be facilitated by the general improvement of the economic climate in Europe and an increase in demand from the automotive industry.
Recall that for 2013, Wordsteel predicts a drop in steel consumption in Europe by 3.8 percent, up to 135 million tons. Including in Germany it is expected to reduce demand for steel at 1.6 percent, in Italy by 8.1 percent and in Spain by 4.3 percent.
As reported last year, the countries of the European Union reduced the consumption of steel and metal rolling by 9.5 percent, to 148 million tons.
