According to preliminary data published today by the State Statutes of South Africa, the production of ferrous metallurgy products in this country in September 2013 increased in an annual comparison by 3.5 percent, and compared with August - 2.8 percent. However, the steel price index, taking into account seasonal fluctuations, in the region decreased by 9.1 percent compared to July.
Sales in the metallurgical industry of South Africa in September 2013 decreased in monetary terms by 6.2 percent, to 884 million 660 thousand US dollars, while actual costs for the production of steel and cast iron increased from the beginning of the year by 8 percent.
The total industrial production in South Africa in the third quarter of 2013 increased slightly - by 0.2 percent both compared to the APPG -2012 and compared to the previous quarter.
