In January - September 2013, Ukrainian consumers imported about 160 thousand tons of scrap metal into the country, which is almost two and a half times higher than the APPG -2012 indicator. In monetary terms, the cost of metal scrap increased by 60 percent, to 61 million 313 thousand US dollars. This is evidenced by the data of the customs statistics of Ukraine.
In the period under consideration, scrap metal exports from Ukraine increased by 64.4 percent, to 130 thousand 328 tons, which in monetary terms amounted to 40 million 691 thousand US dollars (+73.4 percent compared to APPG-2012).
