During the implementation of the Bentler growth strategy (BSR), located in Padderborn (Germany), they entered into an agreement with Danieli & C Buttrio (Italy) on the construction of a new seamless plant of 4 ½ "in the USA. The plant will be built in Srivorta, in the north-west of Louisiana, and will become one of the largest plants in the history of this region.
The plant with an annual capacity of 320,000 tons per year will produce high-quality seamless pipes with excellent tolerances and impeccable properties of the material in accordance with the API and ASTM standards.
BSR chose rolling blocks representing modular structures that are equipped as unregulated and regulated by stands. At the stands, interchangeable rolls with an individual drive will be installed. A feature of this design is the remote control of the adjustable rack. The design of the stands can significantly minimize the number of changes, which reduces capital and operating costs with optimal performance.
The automation system ensures the visualization of the measured data of the rolling mill and at the same time allows the operator to manage the work, minimizing heavy fractions, as well as monitor the thickness of the wall. This, in turn, ensures the high performance of seamless pipes of excellent quality, significantly reducing operational errors and the time spent on control of pipes parameters.
The new seamless pipes in the United States are planned to put into operation for the second half of 2015.
