By 2030, Poland could reduce coal consumption

К 2030 году Польша может сократить потребление угля в два раза
By 2030, Poland can halve the consumption of coal, which renewable energy sources should come to change. These measures will have to put an end to the image of Poland in the EU, as a lagging European country in terms of effective confrontation between climate changes on the planet.

The report by Greenpeace researchers from Germany and Poland indicates "that such a scenario is quite realistic." The ex-Minister of Environmental Protection of Poland Matsu Novitski also thinks.

According to experts, Poland, which currently produces 90 percent of coal electricity, can create 100 thousand jobs at enterprises where by 2030 electricity will be mined from wind, water, biomass, geothermal and solar energy.
To implement these goals, it is necessary to attract investments in the amount of $ 264 billion, which, as usual, is twice the cost of the entire business estimated at $ 132 billion. Nevertheless, free renewable energy sources will provide cheaper electricity production in the long term due to the exclusion of fuel costs (coal, gas, etc.) for its production.

According to Novitski, Poland has a real chance to refuse and go beyond coal dependence. “Poland is a home for a geriatric energy system based on coal. Most of the companies are very old-of the total number of 70 percent of them exceeds 30 years, ”the ex-minister added.

Poland from all EU countries most reluctantly supported the need to reduce or abandon the use of fossil fuel to combat global warming. The rejection of coal by the Poles would surpass all the EU expectations.

The next month, from November 11 to 22, a conference will be held in Warsaw between representatives of 200 countries of the world, where an agreement will be developed and adopted to take measures to slow down the processes of climate change. This document must be finally agreed and adopted by 2015.
