According to the data published by the Japanese Metallurgical Association (JISF), orders for metal products, including from special steels, in the country's domestic market in September 2013 exceeded 7 million 740 thousand tons, which is 8.73 percent higher than the APPG indicator.
Orders for steel from the construction sector of Japan increased in September in an annual comparison by 7.84 percent to 1 million 60 thousand tons, while demand from the automobile industry sector increased by 7.36 percent. The shipbuilding sector ordered 309 thousand 250 tons of steel on the domestic market, which is 11.3 percent higher than in September 2012.
Meanwhile, according to the information of the Ministry of Finance of Japan, the export of metallurgical products from this country in September decreased by 2.3 percent in an annual comparison and 6.5 percent compared to the previous month, amounting to 3 million 480 thousand tons. Import also decreased by 4.9 percent compared to the APP and 9.9 percent compared to August 2013 to 603 thousand 567 tons.
In January-September, Japanese export steel amounted to 33.2 million tons, which is 4.8 percent higher than in APPG, and imports were reduced by 7.2 percent compared to the numbers for the same period of 2012.
