Russia's claims sent to the WTO claim that Russian manufacturers of steel and chemical industry are in a disadvantage in the European Union due to existing adjustments to electricity tariffs imposed on Russian products since 2002.
The Ministry of Economics reports that the complaint is the first case of the circulation in the WTO, since Russia has joined the World Trade Organization in August 2012. The fact is that the EU dumping duties take into account the costs of European enterprises for energy resources that significantly exceed the Russian ones, so the EU accuses Russia. To protect their affected manufacturers of the EU country, measures in the form of additional duties for imports from Russia.
In addition, there are unresolved questions about the EU complaints regarding the Russian increased tax on the disposal of cars introduced on imported cars, as well as the continuing tension between Moscow and Brussels about pro -European protests that covered Ukraine and the incident with the crew of the Greenpeace Sunrise ship.
The complaint claims that Russian manufacturers of steel and chemical industry are in an unfavorable position in the European Union due to the current adjustments of electricity tariffs. Russia claims that the anti -dumping tariffs was used unfairly, which makes it impossible to export the goods of Russian companies to the EU markets and leads to losses of "hundreds of millions of dollars every year."
Consultations on this issue in Brussels are conducted by the press secretary of the European Trade Commission John Clans, who said that “the measures indicated by Russia and its requests for consultations are consistent with the Rules of the WTO”.
