At the Kirov plant, the main specialization of which is the processing of non-ferrous metals (KZOTsM), which is part of the UMMC-OCM, measures are being taken to increase energy efficiency. This type of work is carried out as part of the implementation of the energy efficiency program, which the plant developed in cooperation with UMMC-OCM.
The goal of the program is to optimize the consumption of energy resources and reduce the volume of their losses. Over the past three years, a number of works have been carried out at the plant, which are aimed at increasing energy saving and energy efficiency. One of these measures is the implementation of a program that provides for the abandonment of the use of steam and the transfer of technological processes to the use of energy from alternative power sources.
Denis Simonov, who holds the position of deputy chief engineer of the plant, said that in the rolling-press and rolling shops, heating of pickling solutions was transferred to electric heating from steam in baths and on tape-pickling machines. In addition, electric instead of steam heating is used on the straighteners to heat the air required to dry the strip.
Thanks to the modernization, two of the three chambers operated at the woodworking site were transferred to electric heating (previously steam was used). A new valve was installed at the plant's treatment facilities and a gas boiler was put into operation. It is used for technological needs at the emulsion decomposition area. We replaced the steam extinguishing system of the oil basements of rolling mills of rolling-press and rolling shops with carbon dioxide.
Denis Simonov noted that thanks to the implementation of the program, the enterprise from January 2013 was able to completely abandon the use of steam. At the same time, the savings reached 31 million rubles. in year. The list of works that have been performed in order to improve energy efficiency and energy saving should include the replacement of energy-saving general lighting fixtures, decommissioning equipment that is not used or rarely used, equipping with frequency control devices for electric drives of pumping units.
Since 2012, the measures taken have allowed the plant to save:
- electricity - 913.6 thousand kW per hour;
- thermal energy - 77.248 thousand Gcal;
- water - 360 thousand m3.
These indicators had a positive impact on the overall profitability of the plant. Now the company's specialists are developing a program for 2015-2017, the main task of which is to increase energy efficiency and energy saving.
