Argentine steel producer Sidersa has hired Italian company Danieli to supply the MIDA QLP-DUE mini-mill, which will be installed in San Nicolas, Buenos Aires province.
The new plant will have an annual capacity of 360,000 tons, produce straight bundled bars and wire rod, feed scrap and serve mainly the local civil sector construction.
The plant is scheduled to start up in the first half of 2028.
Features of the new plant include an endless Digimelter scrap feed, Q-One power feeder and Q-Melt process control system, single-strand Octocaster, rolling mill and direct bag rolling station.
Danieli also will supply auxiliary equipment such as smoke and water treatment units, as well as process and auxiliary cranes serving the entire plant.
The plant will be the first of its kind to be built in Argentina in the last 50 years.
