The latest statistics released by the European Iron and Steel Association (EUROFER) show a slight increase in domestic scrap prices in December last year. Average prices for steel scrap increased by almost 3 percent compared to the previous month. However, scrap prices declined by almost a third during the month compared to December 2014.
In December last year, prices for old scrap (E3) averaged € 159 /tonne, which is slightly higher, by 3.92 percent, compared to the previous month. Prices averaged around € 153 /t in November 2015. At the same time, prices for E3 steel scrap decreased significantly, by 33.74 percent, compared to December 2014, when prices were on average € 240 /ton.
New scrap prices (E2 /E8 /E6) averaged € 157 /ton in December 2015. Prices rose slightly at 1.29 percent compared to the previous month. However, prices have dropped significantly, by more than 33.19 percent, compared to the deca.
