The presence of submarines in the Arctic is associated with the need to move under a thick layer of ice. This practice was used during the Cold War. But after the explosion on one of the submarines in 2007, the UK abandoned this venture.
However, London is currently ready to return its submarines to the Arctic. British Navy officers and other specialists have already completed training on the American submarine, which made the passage through the Bering Strait.
Rear Admiral John Will, upon completion of the internship, said: "We will use the experience and training to prepare one of our submarines, the Trafalgar, to work under the ice, before using those skills to work with the entire fleet."
