Preliminary data released by the World Steel Association indicates that global production of direct reduced iron (DRI) in November this year remains more or less stable compared to the previous month. Global DRI production figures are based on figures compiled from 14 countries that accounted for about 85% of global DRI production in 2015.
World DRI production during November 2016 was 4.512 million tonnes, a slight increase from 4.504 million tonnes achieved in October this year.
According to World Steel, Iran ranks first in DRI production for a month. India and Mexico were the second and third largest DRI production countries.
Iran's DRI output in November 2016 was 1.430 Mt, down from 1.480 Mt in the previous month. India's DRI production in November this year was 1.155 million tonnes, down from 1.193 million tonnes a month earlier. The DRI output of Mexico in November this year amounted to 0.42 million tons, which is slightly less than in the previous month.
The DRI output (in thousand tons) of other 11 producing countries in November 2016 is as follows: Canada (60), Saudi Arabia (396), Trinidad and Tobago (Zero), Argentina (95), Peru (Zero), Venezuela (60 ), Egypt (227), Libya (64), South Africa (63), Qatar (218) and the United Arab Emirates (325).
