The strike of miners on the platinum mines of South Africa, owned by the British company Lonmin, ended. Since August this year, the miners stopped work on one of Marikana's largest mines. During the skirmishes with the police, about 100 people were injured, and 44 miners died.
After five weeks, representatives of Lonmin agreed with the striking miners to increase wages and terminate the confrontation. According to the company, wages will be increased by 10 - 20%, in addition, the miners will be paid compensation in the amount of $ 244.
Representatives of Lonmin are concerned that the temporary stop of work on the mine can reduce the planned indicators of platinum production in annual calculus. It is also assumed to increase the cost of work.
The strike in South Africa is discontinued
