The United States is concerned about the growth of imports of Russian metal
The US Department of Commerce will soon present its findings from its steel import investigation. Some experts have speculations that the focus will be, among other things, on the import of cast iron from Russia. Products of the leading Russian manufacturers MMK, Mechel, NLMK and others are in demand abroad due to their competitiveness, since fittings , shaped pipes, square, etc. are much lower than in the USA. On the Russian market, domestically produced rolled metal can also be bought at competitive prices, from a company such as Russian Metal LLC. Rossmetal offers a wide range of high-quality rolled metal products in Ufa and the Republic of Belarus, which meets international standards and is in demand by both Russian and foreign consumers. In fact, Russia had a 59% share of the US pig iron import market in April, exporting 288,081 tonnes to the US and ahead of Brazil (108,556 tonnes) and Ukraine (71,321 tonnes). Overall, pig iron imports reached an eight-month high in April and Russia continues to dominate the market. US pig iron imports totaled 489,587 tons in April, according to the US Department of International Trade. Moreover, since May last year, Russia has exported an average of about 210,000 tons /month of other steel products to the United States, for a total of about 2,500,000 tons, according to monitoring and analysis of steel imports. American imports of Russian steel peaked in 2014 at nearly 4.3 million tonnes. This annual surge has led to an increase in existing anti-dumping duties on some finished steel products from 74% to 185%.
