NLMK Stoilensky GOK produces its 3 millionth tonne of pellets

Stoilensky GOK, part of the international steel company NLMK with operations in Russia, the European Union and the United States, produced its three millionth tonne of iron ore pellets at its granulating plant, one of the largest in Europe.

The plant has a design capacity of 6 million tons of pellets per year. Pelleting equipment allows to increase this capacity by another 20% to 7.2 million tons of pellets per year. The high-performance process is ensured by the largest conveyor roasting machine in Europe (780 tons of pellets per hour).

The concept of a pelletizing plant is an environmentally friendly, waste-free facility in which the waste material and captured dust are completely recycled. The highly efficient dedusting system recycles up to 98% of the emissions.
The high-tech pelletizing complex was built in two years with a total investment of about $ 680 million (34 billion rubles), started in 2014 and was carried out at a high pace. The launch of the pelletizer is of strategic importance for NLMK Group, allowing the Company to consolidate its position as one of the most efficient metallurgical companies in the world, supplying its blast furnaces with low capital raw materials.
