The Ukrainian government will protect pipe manufacturers from the Eurasian Commission

On August 29, the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade - Trade Representative of Ukraine Natalia Nikolskaya met with representatives of the pipe industry. The parties discussed the export of Ukrainian products, including the problems of access of pipe products to foreign markets, in particular to the market of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Ukrainian producers expressed concern over the situation in connection with the anti-dumping measures against steel pipes. The anti-dumping duty of 18.9% -37.8% does not give Ukrainian products the opportunity to compete in the market of the Eurasian Economic Union. Let us remind you that now there is a revision of these measures, which was initiated by Ukrainian producers with the aim of their liberalization.

“It is important for us to counteract measures that restrict the access of Ukrainian pipe products to foreign markets. Therefore, we will consider the possibility of protecting the rights and interests of Ukraine in the trade and economic sphere within the framework of the mechanisms provided for by the WTO agreements,” Natalia Nikolskaya said during the meeting.

The meeting participants noted that the measures restricting the access of Ukrainian pipes, in particular, to the traditional markets of Kazakhstan and Belarus, are artificial and those that do not comply with the norms of international trade law established by the World Trade Organization.

The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade will work out the issue of protecting the interests of the domestic industry, taking into account the mechanisms allowed under the WTO.
