Ilyich Iron and Steel Works signed a contract for the supply of equipment for the reconstruction of a sheet rolling mill

The Mariupol Metallurgical Plant named after Ilyich Metinvest Group signed a contract with Primetals Technologies Austria GmbH for the supply of equipment for the reconstruction of the 1700 sheet-rolling shop (LPC-1700) worth more than $ 25 million.

Under the terms of the contract, the Austrian partner will develop detailed engineering for the reconstruction of the rolling mill-1700 and, already in 2018, will supply new equipment that will increase the productivity of the shop, improve the quality of the rolled surface and reduce production waste when rolling slabs. The completion of the reconstruction and the start of commissioning are scheduled for 2019.

Earlier, in August of this year, Ilyich Iron and Steel Works and Primetals signed an agreement for the development of basic engineering for the reconstruction of a sheet-rolling shop. Metinvest's total investment in the project will amount to $ 85.5 million.

Also, since 2016, the parties have been implementing a project for the construction of a two-strand continuous casting machine and out-of-furnace steel processing facilities worth $ 150 million.

- We are going to replace the equipment of the coil mill by 80% and we will be able to master the production of products with new consumer properties. The Austrian technologies to be used are among the best in the world.
