Nippon Steel Decides to Install New Continuous Galvanizing Line at Kimitsu Plants

Nippon Steel решила установить новую линию непрерывного оцинкования на заводах Kimitsu
Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) announced their decision to install a new electroplating line at their steel plant in Kimitsu, Japan. The installation of the new continuous hot-dip galvanizing line is expected to help increase the production of ultra-high strength steel sheets. The new line has a production capacity of around 400,000 tonnes per year and will begin production in the second quarter of fiscal 2020.

The new galvanizing line will replace the existing No. 4 continuous galvanizing line. The line will be capable of producing a wide range of products, including hot-dip galvanized steel sheets and galvanized steel sheets. In addition, it will be able to produce ultra-high strength steel sheets with a tensile strength of up to 1.5 GPa.

The installation of a new galvanizing line is in line with the company's strategy of promoting high-performance materials. The expected growth in market demand for electric vehicles could also boost demand for lighter automotive body parts with enhanced strength capabilities. It was in these circumstances that Nippon Steel decided to make a big investment in a new galvanizing line at one of its main steel facilities.

Recently, a Japanese steelworker has been on the wanted list. He entered into an agreement with ArcelorMittal to jointly acquire the assets of the bankrupt Indian Essar Steel. In addition, he began negotiations to acquire the Japanese Sanyo Special Steel Co. and Swedish special steel manufacturer Ovako AB.
