World steel production from 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) was 156.6 million tonnes in October 2018, up 5.8% from October 2017.
Steel production in China in October 2018 amounted to 82.6 million tons, which is 9.1% more than in October 2017. India produced 8.8 million tonnes, up 0.4% on October 2017. In October 2018, Japan produced 8.6 million tons of steel, which is 4.5% compared to October 2017. South Korea produced 6.2 million tons of crude oil, up 3.5% on October 2017.
In the EU, France produced 1.3 million tonnes of steel in October 2018, down 3.5% on October 2017. Steel production in Italy in October 2018 was 2.3 million tonnes, up 1.1% on October 2017. Spain produced 1.3 million tonnes in October 2018, down 7.4% from 2017.
Steel output in Turkey in October 2018 amounted to 3.2 million tons, which is 4.3% less than in October 2017.
Steel production in Ukraine this month amounted to 1.8 million tons, which is 6.7% less than in October 2017.
In October 2018, the United States produced 7.6 million tonnes of crude steel, up 10.5% from October 2017.
