NS BlueScope Malaysia completes acquisition of YKGI Holdings Berhad

NS BlueScope Malaysia has completed the acquisition of YKGI Holdings in Berhad in Klang, Malaysia.

The assets include a push-pull pickling line, a cold rolling mill, a continuous galvanizing line and a continuous color coating line. NS BlueScope Malaysia is the operating company of NS BlueScope Coated Products, which is a 50/50 joint venture with Nippon Steel Corporation (NSC) and BlueScope Steel Australia (BSL) specializing in coated business in Southeast Asia and the United States.

NS BlueScope Coated Products believes this acquisition has further enhanced its ability to respond to customer needs in the construction market.


The acquisition gives NS Bluescope Malaysia access to a “cost-effective source of cold rolled substrate” and provides opportunities to feed cold rolled raw materials to other ASEAN JV operations, as well as future growth through additional coating and painting capabilities.
