Danieli has been awarded a contract to replace the primary descaler, hot plate alignment line, and # 1 sheet steel cutting line at JSW Steel USA in Baytown, TX to improve plant productivity.
This first phase has already begun and the commissioning of new equipment is expected in the fall of 2019.
The second phase of the project was confirmed by Danieli in September 2018 to replace the reversing mill, install a pre-leveler, direct cooling and accelerated cooling, and completely replace the cooling layers and add a new cold plate leveler. Among other Level 2 automation features provided by Danieli Automation, the new 4-sheet mill stand will be equipped with planar rolling (PVR) technology, which will increase productivity by approximately 2%.
