Pig iron production results

According to Worldsteel, for 6 months of 2019, metallurgical enterprises of the countries of the world smelted 681 480 thousand tons of pig iron, of which 636 870 thousand tons by the blast furnace method and 44.610 thousand tons by the direct reduction method. These results are 4.63% higher than the indicator of 651,300 thousand tons in the same period in 2018.

The first place, as before, belongs to the People's Republic of China, whose metallurgists produced 404,210 thousand tons of pig iron in January-June 2019, which is 7.85% more than 374,790 thousand tons for 6 months 2018. The share of Chinese pig iron in world production in January-June 2019 is 59.3%.

The positions of other leading countries have not changed.

Ukraine is in 10th place among 40 countries that produce pig iron (10,240 thousand tons or 100.98% by 6 months of 2018).

Steel Production

World steel production in the first half of 2019 is 924,990 thousand tons, which is 4.91% more than in January-June 2018 (881,680 thousand tons).

The leader here is also the People's Republic of China, which smelted 492,170 thousand tons, which is 9.90% more than in the same period in 2018 (447,830 thousand tons). The PRC's share in world steel production is 53.2%.

The positions of other leading countries remained unchanged.

Among 62 steel-producing countries, Ukraine occupies the thirteenth position (10.930 thousand tons, which is 5.3% more compared to January-June 2018).
