China's stainless steel production in July was 2.53 million tonnes, up 3.71% over June and 18.65% in July 2018. Higher margins have forced stainless steel mills to increase production from Series # 300 at the expense of Series # 400. It says production of # 300 stainless steel was up 3.91% from the prior month and 9.36% from the previous month. from the same period last year, amounting to 1.17 million tons in July, while the output of product No. 400 decreased by 8.98% compared with a month ago to 390,000 tons. Series # 200 production increased 9.63% month-on-month to 968,000 tonnes.
For August, the planned volume of production of three types of stainless steel increased by a month, amounting to 2.6 million tons.
The increased orders boosted the planned production of Series # 300 to 1.21 million tonnes, 2.99% more than in July. Series # 200 production is expected to grow 3.51% month-on-month to 1 million tonnes, while Series # 400 production could grow 0.23% to 395,000 tonnes.
