According to Worldsteel, in 2019, metallurgical enterprises of the countries of the world produced 1,355.59 million tons of pig iron, of which 1,265.52 million tons were smelted by the blast furnace method and 90.07 million tons by the direct reduction method. This is 2.27% higher than the figure of 1325.45 tons in 2018.
The first place, as before, belongs to China, whose metallurgists produced 809.370 million tons of pig iron in 2019, which is 5.33% more than the figure of 1768.410 million tons last year. The share of Chinese pig iron in world production in 2019 reached 59.7%.
Ukraine is in 10th place among 40 countries-producers of pig iron with an output of 20.06 million tons, which is 0.4% below the level of 2018
At the same time, Ukraine ranks 13th among 64 countries of production - steel with a production volume of 20.85 million tons.
