EVRAZ ordered Danieli's innovative Danieli Universal Endless plant to produce high value-added products for a new plant in Novokuznetsk in the Kemerovo region of Russia. EVRAZ's QSP-DUE plant will be designed for a total annual capacity of 250,000 tonnes of hot-rolled coils for strip thicknesses from 0.80 to 16.0 mm and widths from 950 to 1700 mm. The vertical bend thin slab caster has a 5.5 m main radius, designed to handle a slab thickness range of 100 to 123 mm, thanks to its dynamic soft recovery and a maximum casting speed of 6 m /min. depending on the steel grade.
The Tunnel Furnace, supplied by Danieli Centro Combustion, will provide the primary buffer function, which increases the flexibility of the rolling casting technology and allows the work rolls to be changed as a background task without affecting the operation of the caster and the melt in the system.
In addition to the QSP-DUE line, Danieli will supply a two-station ladle furnace (310 tonnes), a two-chamber vacuum degasser (310 tonnes) and related ancillary equipment, including a smoke treatment unit and a water treatment plant for the entire site.
Danieli Automation will bring Danieli's know-how into the system by developing and delivering complete process control from molten steel to coils, including online instrumentation, MV /LV drives and auxiliary plant control.
Danieli's QSP-DUE technology features an innovative and patented layout configuration that allows all the advantageous features that have been developed so far using either coil-to-coil, semi-infinite or endless rolling modes in a single thin slab casting and rolling line. This removes the limiting factors of each mill, allowing the mill operator to reach all production niches in the flat products market using the process that is best suited for each steel grade and product.
This will be the second Danieli QSP-DUE plant in the world. The order follows the start-up of the first-ever DUE plant installed at Shougang Jingtang United I&S in China during 2019.
