The subsidiary of the United Metallurgical Company OMK Vyksa Metallurgical Plant in the Nizhny Novgorod Region in 2019 increased the production of train wheels. At the end of the year, the total number of wheels produced was 951,000, up 11% from 860,000 in 2018.
Along with this, exports were at an all-time low in 2019. In particular, sales outside the CIS accounted for a third of their level in 2018. The share of export contracts in OMK's portfolio currently stands at about 1.5%. Compared to the time of low domestic demand and low utilization of the VSW wheel rolling mill in 2015-2017, exports in 2019 were only one-fifth of their previous values.
