Metinvest Severny GOK modernizes equipment

The Northern Iron Ore Beneficiation Plant of Metinvest Group is modernizing induction machines in workshop No. 1 for the production of pellets. The company has allocated 270 million UAH for the renovation of production equipment. The modernization of the LURGI 278A and OK 306 induction machines is part of an investment program aimed at standardizing the process used on different machines and improving the quality of the pellets produced. The project began in 2018 and includes several phases of equipment replacement in the mixing, pelletizing and screening zones, as well as the installation of industrial monitoring systems.

At present, the specialists of the workshop are developing software for automatic control of ore moisture and disc granulation speed. Improving these processes will help maximize the yield of pellets of the required size of 10-14 mm. It is planned to complete the modernization of equipment in the pellet shop No. 1 by the end of the year.
