NLMK La Louvière continues to modernize its hot rolling mill

NLMK La Louvière in Belgium has begun the pre-assembly of three new finishing stands for the modernization of its hot rolling mill, which will allow the company to expand production of thinner, stronger and more environmentally friendly steel for customers in the EU. Pre-assembly will last until November 2020, then the dismantling of the old finishing stands of the mill will begin, followed by the installation of pre-assembled and tested new ones. Technologies has won a contract to modernize a hot rolling mill. The extensive modernization and modernization includes the installation of an automation system, three new and three modernized rolling mill stands, new drives and motors, as well as a new beating table, modernized cooling and water supply systems. and a new down jacket. The project will enable the mill to expand production of high-strength, thin hot rolled coils, expand its range of high-strength products, and provide customers with best-in-class surface tolerances.

The investment in the modernization of the hot rolling mill will amount to 150 million euros.

The first stage of the mill's transformation is planned to be completed by the end of 2020; the second stage will be completed in 2021.
