Ukraine in the world ranking of metallurgical production for 10 months of 2020

Украина в мировом рейтинге металлургического производства за 10 месяцев 2020 г.
According to the world organization of steel producers Worldsteel, in 10 months of 2020, metallurgical enterprises of the countries of the world smelted 1,148.07 million tons of pig iron, of which 1,077.53 million tons by the blast furnace method and 70.54 million tons by the direct reduction method. The result for 10 months was lower by 1.86% compared to the same period in 2019 (1,169.88 million tons). The decrease in global pig iron production was caused, first of all, by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The first place belongs to China, whose steelmakers smelted 741.70 million tons of pig iron in January-October 2020, which is 4.35% more than in January-October 2019 (710.79 million tons). The share of Chinese pig iron in world production for 10 months of 2020 is 64.6%. The position in the rating table of the leading countries has not changed.

Ukraine (16.88 million tons or 98.9% compared to January-October 2019) ranks 9th among 40 countries that produce pig iron.

World steel production in 10 months of 2020 is 1511.04 million tons, which is 2.03% less than in January-October 2019 (1542.34 million tons).

The leader here is also the People's Republic of China, which produced 873.93 million tons, which is 5.45% more than in 10 months of 2019 (828.75 million tons). The PRC's share in world steel production is 57.8%.

Germany (29.144 million tons or 86.1% compared to the same period in 2019) moved up to 7th place, displacing Turkey (29.140 million tons or 104.2%) to 8th position.

The positions of other leading countries have not changed.

Ukraine produced 16.98 million tons, or 94.5% compared to January-October 2019 and ranks 13th among 62 steel-producing countries.

The drop in global steel production was also caused primarily by the COVID-19 pandemic.
